EVENT NEWS!
If you are in Edinburgh or planning to be there around 14th August, slap bang in the middle of the Fringe Festival, I have a delightful and very reasonably priced ticket for you.
Brilliant comedian Eleanor Morton and I will be in conversation about our respective books at The Edinburgh Bookshop that evening. Life Lessons From Historical Women is a brilliantly funny look back at amazing women from history who have left their mark on the world.
And my book, as you might be aware, is a blackly comic novel (recently long-listed for the Comedy Women in Print Prize) about the toxic men in stand-up comedy.
Eleanor’s last Edinburgh show, Haunted House, was a very funny exploration of Edinburgh’s spooky woo reputation with tourists and the high prevalence of sexual assault at the Edinburgh Fringe, so she’s the perfect person to talk to about what it’s like to work in the comedy industry.
We’ll talk about the impressive women in Eleanor’s book and how they broke with convention to get shit done in a world that directed questions to their husbands.
Both books have a strong flavour of female rebellion and I’m really excited to talk about the book in the city where my books climactic scenes are set.
Up the Scold’s Bridle and see you on the cobbles!
