Hello subscribers. You probably haven’t noticed, what with the “state of things” and the many distractions of life, but I haven’t written you anything for several weeks.

This is not because I am lazy or deliberately withholding words from you in a bid to whip you up into a frenzy of longing. I just haven’t had much free time.

And this is because I am in the final stretch of a BIG NEW THING which I will soon be able to tell you about and that will make me very happy indeed.

But until then, here is a picture of some chairs to put you in mind of a dull waiting room. The kind of place where the vending machine dispenses Douglas Adams’ “almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea”.

There’s no art on the walls, no plants in pots to suggest hope or renewal. Just a dull holding cell which does not encourage you to linger at all.

What I’m saying is, get on with your lives. Fall in love. Make rash and regrettable decisions while I tinker away and I’ll be back to dramatically announce my next move in a short while.

If you’re a paying subscriber, I have paused subscriptions for now because it doesn’t seem fair to charge you for a picture of some chairs I didn’t even take.

You don’t have to do anything and I will let you know when I’ve reactivated subs so you can decide then whether or not to continue supporting my writing.

I really REALLY appreciate all of you who have chosen to so far and I hope to surprise and delight you in the fairly near future with what I’ve been working on.

In the mean time, I hope the coming of spring/some light/less rain is putting you in good humour and I’ll be back before you can say, “Oh, no it’s clouded over. I’ll do that walk tomorrow.”
